Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint: Swatches and review (perfect for summer!)

tl;dr - Snackers, rejoice! Tony Moly's Liptone Get It Tints stay intact even when you're eating messy, greasy foods (the best kinds to snack on, IMHO). Plus, the colors are bright, matte, and gorgeous - check out my swatches and selfies to see for yourself. Prep with a rich lip moisturizer for longer, more comfortable wear.

Hi all! Wanted to tell you about some of my favorite lip products of late, especially now that summer is in full swing, and the last thing I want to do is smear on a traditional lipstick that's bound to melt off as the day wears on. For warmer weather, I love Tony Moly's Liptone Get It Tints because they're highly pigmented but weightless and non-sticky, and they last the whole day. And when I say "the whole day" I don't mean 24 hours of sitting around: this stuff stays on through showering, swimming, and most importantly for me, eating and drinking. I know this because I once wore this lip tint to a Korean barbecue dinner where I licked my lips and wiped my mouth like there was no tomorrow, but my lip color was intact by the end of it. Amazing! #notapaidad

I found out about these lip tints through my friend Karen, who gifted me the "Red Hot" shade last year (thank you, Karen!). I loved it so much, I purchased 2 mini-trios on Amazon for a total of 6 tints - check out the unfiltered swatches below!

Here's how the lip tints look when you first apply them. From left to right: Pink Ming, Play Orange,
Clear Coral, Red Hot, Red Joy, Oh My Rose

Once applied, Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint is similar to Berrisom Oops My Lip Tint Pack: a lip color that's weightless, non-sticky, long-lasting, matte, and vivid. But to Tony Moly's credit, the Liptone Get It Tints are easier and quicker to use: slide the wet formula onto your lips, blot off the excess, and you're good to go. The entire process takes less than 5 minutes. On the other hand, the Berrisom Oops My Lip Tint Pack has a drier, gooier formula that's tricky to apply, and you have to wait 10 minutes for the outer layer to dry before you peel it off to reveal the pigment underneath. No need to wait with the Tony Moly version!

Here's how the lip tints look after removing the excess with water - still pretty bright, eh? From left
to right: Pink Ming, Play Orange, Clear Coral, Red Hot, Red Joy, Oh My Rose

But enough of this theoretical swatch stuff - let's get to my unfiltered (eek!) selfies, where you can see what the colors look like on someone IRL. Note the following:
  • Because the color lasts the whole day, I had to wait at least 24 hours for the prior tint to fade completely before trying the next shade.
  • I made sure to take the photo in the same spot in my apartment every day, at around the same time (7 PM PST). Wanted to ensure consistent lighting!
  • For each tint, I took one selfie with an iPhone 7 and another one with an Android Samsung Galaxy S3 - I found the latter had some intense built-in filtering.
  • I didn't proactively edit, retouch, post-process, crop, or filter these photos at all (this will become obvious as you scroll through the photos - talk about raw!).

1) Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint: Pink Ming

built-in filtering in selfie mode).

I was intimidated by the bright pink hue in the bottle, but the shade becomes a subtle coral when you put it on. I love the natural pinkish coral color! It's summery and playful while not being too in-your-face. I can see myself wearing this one every day this summer, even to work. It's a more matte, less sticky version of Yves Saint Laurent's Glossy Stain Lip Color in Coril Fauve (which I also love for everyday wear).

2) Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint: Play Orange

Bam! Play Orange looks like an orange crayon in the bottle but on lips, it's more like a brilliant red with orange undertones. I can see this one making a statement against black, white, or cooler toned summer outfits. Perfect for a spring bachelorette party or road trip.

3) Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint: Clear Coral

Clear Coral is right in between Play Orange and Pink Ming in terms of vividness, making it a versatile companion for day-to-night occasions or trips that involve both work and play. I remember seeing this midtone pinkish coral lip color on all the girls in Korea when I was there for my honeymoon two years ago, and it also reminds me of Jenn Im's Dohee Ultra Satin Lip from her Jenn Ne Sais Quoi Colourpop collection.

4) Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint: Red Hot

This is the one that got me started! The electric brightness of Red Hot gives Play Orange a run for its money. I love wearing Red Hot to dinner parties that are dressier or to brunch when I'm feeling bold.

5) Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint: Red Joy

Red Joy is the go-to shade of red I imagine Taylor Swift is singing about in "Style" - "I've got that red lip classic thing that you like..." Love the brilliant red color and hints of blue undertone. I'd feel comfortable wearing Red Joy to business casual events (company holiday parties come to mind) or to an autumn bridal/baby shower.

6) Tony Moly Liptone Get It Tint: Oh My Rose

Last but not least, we have Oh My Rose, a more muted warm red. Oh My Rose strikes me as being the most versatile of the bunch: muted enough for a business setting, sophisticated enough for a dinner party, pigmented enough for a girl's night out. I also think my mom would look great in this one!

These lip tints come in two more shades, Dark Night and Oops Orange, that I have yet to try - stay tuned!

Note: because these tints are like weightless lip dyes without sticky conditioners, your lips may feel dry after a few hours of wear. To keep your lips comfortable and to prevent the dyed skin cells from peeling off, prime your lips beforehand with a rich moisturizing treatment like Nooni Water Blending Lip Mask or Nooni Water Blending Lip Oil.

I received both of these products as PR gifts from Memebox, and I love them: they smell like apple candy, and they work great as an overnight lip treatment or as a balm you can wear during the day. I apply the lip mask at with the provided spatula and layer the lip oil over it, but you can wear either product solo as well. Even if the product is wiped off before you apply a lip tint, the moisture stays locked in, and the lip color will last longer and feel more comfortable.

What are your favorite lip products? Let me know in the comments! :)

  7. That is quite a dramatic effect. I don't own any lipstick but I might need to after seeing how well it works.
